On 10/20/14 at about 9:30 am Naugatuck Police received information that a subject residing on May Street had provided information to friends / family of being suicidal. The information obtained indicated that a handgun may have been involved.
Naugatuck officers responded to the residence to check on the subject and as a precautionary measure, notified the Naugatuck Board of Education and requested two nearby schools be locked down until the situation was assessed. The two schools affected were City Hill Middle School and Maple Hill School.
The subject involved was located by Naugatuck Officers at his residence and was determined to be safe and unharmed. Upon resolving the incident the schools were notified and the lockdowns were lifted. The Lockdown lasted approximately 30 minutes.
No further information regarding this situation is being released at this time.
