9/1/2016 - NPD TOO BAD ARREST for 9/1/16 ... ATM Deposit Gone Wrong

NPD’s TOO BAD ARRESTS … For Thursday 9/1/16

Hi everyone, well, it’s been a while – I know, I know,  I have requests for the Too Bad Arrest segment all the time … It’s just that … well, I’m not going to make excuses …. Well – actually, YES I AM …. I’m busy … I have a lot on my plate…. Time gets away from me …. The dog ate my homework … I just haven’t done it!!

Now, that’s not to say that there have not been some TOO BAD worthy arrests made over the past few weeks and months …. Just with that darn dog eating my stuff, I haven’t been able to get to them!! … Well, that all changed yesterday when this little nugget of an arrest strolled in … this one folks I’m sure you will agree is about as TOO BAD worthy as they get!!

Okay – so firs lets insert our usual disclaimer here … "All persons in these segments are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and we reserve the right to change the names of those involved (if names are used at all) to protect the innocent" ...

So it all started back on June 21st … I’d like to have written that it was a dark and stormy night … but June 21 was actually a hot and sunny Tuesday … we will have to make do… Any way – on June 21st, at the Bank of America on Church St. sat an ATM machine … Just sitting in the wall minding its own business … until the start of this week TOO BAD segment drove up to the bank to do some business….

… It was innocent enough, our star … let’s call him “Rock” …. For reasons that will become apparent later in the story …. “Rock” drove up to the ATM and conducted a transaction that would not seem out of the ordinary …. Rock apparently pulled out his ATM card and slipped it into the ATM … Rock then proceeded to reach into his pocket to pull out some cash that he wanted to deposit …. But… what … the ATM would not accept the deposit …. It seemed … that the ATM …. Was … jammed ….. that’s right – I said the ATM was jammed – stuck – “ATM -No Work-Iee” … but why you ask??? … why would a high tech piece of banking equipment … suddenly just “jam” ??? ….

Well, surely Rock was not happy about this … but for some reason when Rock ran into this jamming issue he did not notify the bank …. Oddly he just drove off …. No transaction made … and the jam ate his money …. Strange - right???

Well the bank employees noticed a problem with the ATM and promptly notified their “ATM-Fixer-Guy” … after all this IS a high tech piece of banking equipment … and yes that is an official tittle … at least for a Too Bad segment… don’t argue with me – my segment, I make the rules …..

… so the “ATM-Fixer-Guy” opens the machine and … gasp ….. what does he find??? …. Rocks deposit …. Currency ….with a small plastic baggy …that was stuck to the money being deposited ….  AND … the small baggy contained … what appeared to be …. Gasp (again!) ….  (I’m going to use the official police jargon term used by the investigating officer in his arrest report …) “an off-white rock like substance, which I know through my training and experience to be consistent with the appearance of crack-cocaine” …. The “ATM –Fixer-Guy” immediately stopped what he was doing and contacted the Naugatuck Police … and the investigating officer determined …. As we all already know that the substance appeared to be crack cocaine … a “Rock” if you will … (…In case there are any firemen that may be having this read to them …. That’s where our name for the suspect came from – “Rock” …. This is where whomever is reading this to the firemen should explain it again slowly … so they can catch up … maybe draw them a picture … go ahead, we will all wait right here while you do that…)

… Anyway, the substance was tested and came back positive as crack cocaine…. Rock was identified through the little “camera-thingy” in the ATM as he conducted his transaction …. Which was cross confirmed through his deposit information …..

… this one can definitely be chalked up to a “bad day” for Rock …. What money he didn’t spend on crack cocaine was lost …along with his crack cocaine …. And then he likely had no money to buy more crack cocaine … because the machine jammed and he didn’t have his ATM card …. This is of course assuming that the crack cocaine stuck to the deposit was his … Please see the above disclaimer regarding the “All persons in these segments are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law” …

Well – there you have it folks … reality is truly stranger than fiction … you can’t make this stuff up … and why would you try?? … hope you enjoyed this segment of NPD’s TOO BAD ARRESTS …. Until next time, remember …. We Will Be Here!!!
