Route 63 (New Haven Road) has been re-opened to traffic in both directions following a collision investigation.

UPDATE PRESS RELEASE

 

Members of the Naugatuck Valley Accident Reconstruction Unit are investigating a collision involving five vehicles including a Naugatuck police cruiser. Several occupants of the vehicles involved, including a Naugatuck Police Officer have been transported to local hospitals to be examined however none of the occupants suffered life threatening injuries.

 

The collision involved a vehicle that had been traveling west on Candee Road and struck several vehicles, including the Naugatuck Police Cruiser that were stopped at a traffic light on New Haven Road.

 

The circumstances leading up to the collision are being investigated and it is anticipated New Haven Road will remain closed for the next couple of hours while the scene is active.    

 

All traffic is being detoured to Beacon Valley Road and it is strongly suggested that drivers utilize alternate routes to avoid delays.

New Haven Road (Route 63) is closed in the area of Beacon Valley Road and Candee Road due to a multi car collision that included a Naugatuck Police Cruiser.

 

All traffic is being detoured to Beacon Valley Road as the collision is being investigated by the regional accident reconstruction team.

 

It is strongly suggested that drivers utilize alternate routes to avoid delays. It is expected that the road will be closed for the next several hours.
