At about 9:20 AM Naugatuck PD was made aware of a bear sighting in the area of BirchLlane on the West side of Naugatuck. Officers responded to the area in an attempt to locate and track the animal and observed that it entered the wooded area near Deepwood Road.
A CT Alert message was sent out by Naugatuck Police to residents in that area to be aware of the roaming bear and to take precautions such as making certain that pets are indoors, that doors to residences are closed and to not attempt to approach the animal.
We ask residence to please contact us with sighting information so that we can continue to update the public on its possible locations.
