***Pedestrian Struck / Evading Vehicle Arrest ***

On May 5th at about 4:20 PM the Naugatuck Police responded to a call that involved a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle which fled the scene. The victim was identified as an 18 year old male and was found to have minor injuries from the incident. Officers determined that the suspect vehicle was operated by a subject who had become involved in a dispute with the victim and several other people on the property of Hill Side School on Hillside Ave.. The victim advised that he and others confronted the suspect after a 14 year old female advised the suspect was following her and would not leave her alone. During the dispute the victims stated that the suspect confronted them with a baseball bat and then sped away, striking the victim.

While responding to this incident, Naugatuck PD received additional calls advising the same vehicle had struck another car in a different location and that it had fled that scene as well.

A description of the suspect and suspect vehicle was obtained and traced back to the suspect who was shown to reside in Seymour. Seymour PD was notified and a short time later they located the suspect and had him in custody after a brief pursuit through the woods near the suspects home.

The suspect was arrested and is being held on bond at the Naugatuck PD. The suspect was identified as Brendan Burns (DOB 5/2/1988) of 2 Fawn Hollow Drive, Seymour, CT.
