**** ROBBERIES ****

The Naugatuck Police Department investigated two robberies that occurred about 20 minutes apart today (Wednesday February 25, 2015).

The first robbery was reported at 1:09 PM at the Subway store located at 928 Old Highway Road, which is located near the Waterbury / Naugatuck town line. The suspect in the incident displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the clerk. The suspect then fled the store headed south on Old Waterbury Turnpike.

At approximately 1:30 PM Officers were dispatched to the Big Y store located at 85 Bridge Street On a report of a robbery that occurred as a white male suspect stole items from within the store and forcefully pushed a store employee out of his way as he exited the store with the stolen items. The suspect fled on foot towards the Church / Meadow Street area where he was located by officers a short time later and arrested.

Both incidents are still actively being investigated at this time and it does not appear that they were connected, however that possibility has not yet been ruled out by investigators.
