  NPD Facebook Post / 2.21.15

Pictured is our own, Sergeant Derek Vostinak who recently attend a class on how to properly shake a hand.... See, Sgt. Vostinak has been a fist bumper and high fiver since birth....we have always been uncomfortable with this in his capacity of a police officer, so when he made Sergeant last year we knew we HAD to get him to learn to "shake hands"... It's been a long road, but as you can see from the photo - he was able to resist his urge to fist bump and high five as he received his "hand shaking" graduation certificate.....only glitch was that he then high fived those seated in the audience as he made his way back to his seat....and "belly bumped" the elderly woman seated next to him as he took his seat... ... she is fine... ...it's still a work in progress...

...NAWW.... JUST JOKING!!! .... Sgt Vostinak...while he is a big fist bumper... Was actually receiving an award for his work on the Naugatuck Schools Security Plans .... Naugatuck School Superintendent Sharon Locke handed the award to Sgt. Vostinak....and shook his hand.... as captured in the photo... to thank the Sergeant on a job well done... No fist bumps, high fives or belly bumps involved... That we know of...

Great Job Sergeant Vostinak ....and as always, the men and women of the NPD will be here if you need us....
