NPD Too Bad Thursday / Arrest Review  / 2.5.15

Greetings Everyone,

Its about time to catch up on some “Too Bad” NPD arrests …Its not Tuesday but the week has once again sort of gotten away from me…but better late than never!

Here is the usual disclaimer: "All persons in these segments are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and we reserve the right to change the names of those involved (if names are used at all) to protect the innocent" ...

On January 30, 2015 at about 2:05 AM Officers Pereira, Martnez and Pucci were dispatched to the intersection of Cherry and Spencer Street for a reported fight between two men in the roadway….The caller added that a Black Thunderbird was also parked on Cherry Street that apparently belonged to one of the men involved….
When the officers arrived they located a male subject getting into the driver’s seat of aforementioned black Ford Thunderbird….(the plot thicken’s…) … The Officers asked the man to exit said vehicle and observed that he was bleeding from the lower lip (this my friends is how detectives are made… super observant skills by our officers …. Yes I’m Being sarcastic…)…. Man stated that his car had broken down and he was looking for help…. When asked if he was with someone else he said “no”…. …Man then stated that he had argued with his girlfriend…. and she that she had walked away… (Hmmmm…Explains the possible altercation…but what about the two men…Lets get back top the story to see what happens next, shall we….)…. A short time later a female approaches the officers ….and stated that she was in the vehicle…. and that she just had to walk away because the man (said male the officers were talking with…) was arguing with her…..Officers observed that there were no indications that she had been in a physical altercation…Officers then took a stab in the dark and asked the female who the male was fighting with she advised …. “it was some guy that was in the car”… (Very descriptive answer … and chock full of details that officers like when investigation these type incidents….NOT!)…,The officers continued with the usual line of questioning and …she eventually provided a name….Along with a little more color analysis such as “the two males were arguing”…..Very helpful stuff….Female again advised that she walked away …. Female further advised again that she was not involved in any altercation… The Officers located another male (he will now be known to us as Male2…) …walking on Spencer St. near Cherry …male2 had a laceration above his left eye ….and bruising throughout his face (enough to require immediate medical attention)….Officers asked the original male (we will call him male1…) if he knew male2 …and he stated that “he never seen him before”…..
When the same question was presented to male2,….he gave a little different answer….he stated that he had been in the car with male1 and the female (if its okay with all of you, we wont give her a number….as so far she is the only female involved….) …while in the car, the two males …1 and 2 ….began fighting …. The fight then spilled out of the car …. And this is where male1 punched male2 in the face…..
With that information, male2 went to the hospital…male1 went to the B&B (Cinderblock View suite…but upgraded on check-in to “all most no graffiti on the bars suite”…this has become popular suite as of late… no idea why…. ) ….the female was sent home ….male-less….

On January 31, 2015 at about 1:05 AM Officer Pucci was traveling west on Prospect Street when he saw a vehicle traveling east on Prospect Street without their headlights illuminated….. (THAT….is a clue….) …. Officer Pucci then observed the vehicle – still traveling towards him mind-you….cross the double yellow line with both driver side tires…. (THAT ….is ANOTHER clue….)… Officer Pucci wisely slowed his vehicle and turned to the far right to avoid a collision with the on coming car…..as the vehicle passed him he turned and stopped the vehicle…

…Officer Pucci approached the vehicle spoke with the male operator and advised him why he had stopped his vehicle….. While speaking with the male operator officer Pucci advised he could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his vehicle….(THAT….is yet ANOTHER Clue…) …Officer Pucci also observed that the driver had glossy eyes…. (Man – he is just racking up the Clues here….ANOTHER one!!)…. Officer Pucci asked the driver if he was drinking and he initially (…Always entertaining when we have to report “Initially stated” …..No reason to put that if the story stays the same…..but I’m guessing it didn’t!...) …. Where was I….Oh yes – he “Initially stated” he had “One Beer”…. Ohhh – the ole “I had one beer….boy the oldies never get old do they….. “One Beer”….Gotta love it….. When asked again, the driver stated now he had consumed “One Beer” and “one Scotch” …. (Can’t help but think that if he had added “one bourbon” to this he could very well have been talking to George Thorogood…)… Officer Pucci requested the driver exit the vehicle for testing and upon doing so….he passed with flying colors….Naaaaw…Just joking – he is after all in a Too Bad Segment!! ….he failed!!
The driver was provided with a set of shiny new cuff links to wear to his check in at the NPD B&B where he was checked into our “Alcohol Free” suite …. (they actually all are, but we don’t like to advertise that …hotel industry says its bad for business….) … No idea how he liked his stay though, he did not fill out the survey card – but he did report that he enjoyed eating the mint left under his pillow…..we didn’t have the heart to tell him we didn’t leave mints under the pillow….

On 1/25/15 at about 4:03 PM Officer Kehoss was dispatched to The Naugatuck Motor Lodge, for a stolen vehicle complaint…He spoke with the complainant who advised that she has been staying at the Motor Lodge for about the last three weeks with her boyfriend ….and that he uses her car daily…. She further advised that on this particular date, she asked him not to take her car….however… He took the car ….and her credit card…she advised that she noticed on her bank statement that he withdrew $20.00 from an ATM in Waterbury….and that she wanted to press charges against him….
….In addition to the above reported capers….Officer Kehooss ran the boyfriends name through our magic computers …that spit out that the man had an active protective order issued against him, ordering that he must stay away from his girlfriend…yes – THAT girlfriend…the one he was staying with at the Motor Lodge…and the one whose car he used everyday…..the same one whose car he now stole…along with her credit card…..(Do you see how the whole house of cards is now caving in on him?...) ….

While Officer Kehoss spoke with the female, the aforementioned (man – I love to use that word!) ….called her cell phone and told her he was coming back to the Motor Lodge… Upon disconnecting with him, she advised Officer Kehoss that it sounded to her like he was "messed up" (…That’s secret code for “intoxicated”….) …Officer Kehoss then observed the male pull into the Motor Lodge parking lot…in the females car…and upon speaking with him…determined that he was in fact intoxicated…. Officer Kehoss then placed the man under arrest….and then pulled out his calculator to add up the charges against the man….which – if he does not commit any further crimes before this paragraph is completed – should be at least five violations…including:
- Larceny of MV (Check…)
- Larceny of a credit card
- Larceny of $20.00
- Violation of a Protective Order
- Driving while not sober (AKA: Driving While Impaired)
Subsequently the man was checked out of the Naugatuck Motor Lodge …and checked into the Naugatuck PD Bed and Breakfast…Where he was shown to “The Honeymoon is Over” Suite….

Well, That’s all I have for you today….It’s been fun – hope you all have great Thursday evening …we will be here if you need us….
