The Naugatuck Police investigated a collision involving a pedestrian in the parking lot of Friehofers Bakery Outlet, located at 1041 New Haven Rd..
Naugatuck Police and EMS were dispatched to the location at 12:17 PM and emergency responders treated the pedestrian for serious leg injuries suffered in the collision.
The incident involved a backing motor vehicle that struck the pedestrian as she loaded groceries into the trunk of her car. The victims vehicle was parked in the row directly behind the backing vehicle. The impact placed the victim between the backing vehicle and her own vehicle, and force from the impact was great enough that it moved the victims parked vehicle several feet.
The victim was taken to Waterbury Hospital where she received treatment for her injuries which were believed to be serious but not life threatening. The operator of the backing vehicle was also taken to a local hospital for evaluation, however she did not appear to have suffered serious or life threatening injuries.
The incident is still under investigation by the Naugatuck Police and members of the Naugatuck Valley Regional Accident Reconstruction Unit, and no further details of the investigation including the identities or ages of the operator and victim are available to be released at this time.

The Naugatuck Police Department is on scene of a serious injury motor vehicle vs pedestrian collision at the Friehofers Bakery Outlet on New Haven Rd. Police and members of the Regional Accident Investigation Team are investigating the collision that involved an adult female victim who was struck by a car in the parking area.
