ROAD CLOSURE / DETOUR NOTICE
Rt 68 (Prospect Street) is still closed between Union City Rd. and
Locust Street and is anticipated to remain closed during the morning
commute.
The road was closed yesterday stemming from a collision
involving a motor vehicle and utility poles. No major injuries were
sustained in the collision however numerous power outages resulted as
well as a residence fire during the night.
The residence fire
occurred at 419 Prospect St (Rt 68). At 3:42 AM, Eversource crews
reported smoke coming from the walls of the residence while they were
attempting to energize homes in the area. Residents of the home were
evacuated and suffered minor smoke inhalation.
Emergency and
utility crews remain on scene and motorist are urged to utilize
alternate routes to avoid being detoured and/or delayed.
Detours are set as follows:
Eastbound traffic is being detoured down Locust to Wooster to Maple Hill and back onto Prospect St.
Westbound traffic is being detoured onto Union City to Great Hill Road to Sheridan Road to Old Wtby Turnpike
