12/17/2016 - 12/17/16 - Winter Parking Ban is in Effect / Violations and Fines

Hi Everyone!
Please remember that on snow days the Borough of Naugatuck parking ban is in effect ... and lasts 12 hours after snow stops. The list of roads can be found at:

Here are some of the other snow related ordinances and fines:

PARKING VIOLATIONS
Parking during periods of snow or ice FINE $25.00
Sect 18-108 - No vehicle may park on any highway of the borough from the beginning of snow or ice fall, or other dangerous ice conditions until twelve (12) hours after the cessation of such conditions.

Additional parking restrictions FINE $25.00
Sec 18-109 - In addition to the period from November 1 until May 1 the mayor or his designee can impose additional parking restrictions by executive decree whenever the safety conditions of public roadways are adversely affected by weather condition.

Parking in driveway FINE $25.00
Sec 18-112 - Any person having access to a driveway shall not permit his or her motor vehicle to be parked on any public street during a snow/ice fall.

TOWING VIOLATIONS
Vehicles subject to towing FINE (Prevailing Rate)
Sec 18-110 - Any vehicle which is found to be standing or parked on the side of the street not designated during the winter parking ban shall be in violation of section 1-3. Violations including towing and storage will be under the direction of the borough

Impoundment of vehicle FINE (Prevailing Rate)
Sec 18-111 - Such motor vehicle, having been so removed, shall continue to be impounded until the towing and storage charges as determined by the borough police department shall have been paid by the owner or person entitled to possession of such vehicle. Nothing in this section shall be construed as prohibiting a clergyman, physician, medical personnel or utility serviceman from parking a motor vehicle on any side of the street in the town while engaged in the performance of his duties during such an emergency.

SHOVELING VIOLATIONS
Snow or ice deposits FINE $25.00
Sec 18-113 - No person shall cause snow or ice to be deposited by him on any public street or sidewalk within the borough.

Penalties
Sec 18-114 - Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this section shall be subject to the following fines: Parking fine .....$25.00
Shoveling or plowing onto street .....25.00
Towing and storage fee according to the borough's prevailing rates.
