Good Monday morning all,
Well – the sun is finally out! – looks to be a great sunny week…just in time to get back to work!!
The NPD would like to remind all citizens of the continuing frauds that have been occurring in and around Connecticut over the last few weeks. In particular the “IRS” scam seems to be very popular! The IRS scam involves persons contacting you advising they are IRS agents and that you owe money … The first clue that this is not legit – they DEMAND payment right now in the form of a money wire or pre paid credit card – The IRS will never require you to pay via immediate money wires or prepaid credit cards. Any of these “quick payment” scenarios are a huge red flag that the call is a scam.
The Remember Folks, the IRS never threatens … they don’t have to! - The IRS will not refer you to the police … again – They don’t have to!! If you owe the IRS money they won’t call and threaten to arrest you and they will NEVER become rude or obnoxious.
If you receive one of these calls hang up and report it to us so we can warn others or Call the IRS at 800-829-1040. IRS workers can help you…
