Good Monday morning all,
Its another cold start this morning and its expected that we will see some snow accumulation later this afternoon. With the holiday today its expected that more cars will be at home during the day so we remind you that the winter parking ban goes into place upon the start of snowfall – there is no parking on any town roads unless the street is listed on the barking ban exemption list:

This weekends cold caused numerous “fire” related calls – we assisted citizens with smoke and carbon monoxide detector alarms, water related issues from broken / frozen pipes and several wood stove smoke issues. We remind all citizens to make certain you are keeping home safety first during cold weather –
When burning wood use well-seasoned, dry wood – dry wood creates less of a need to operate a wood stove with the door ajar and less need to have to adjust logs.
Use safe ash management – remember that ashes can remain hot for several weeks after burning so please be certain the ashes are cooled before discarding.
Gas and oil burning furnaces also tend to malfunction when you need them most – make certain to have your furnace maintained on a regular schedule and make sure it is fueled properly to get you through the winter months.
Make sure you have working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors – check to make sure batteries have been recently changed out and test the alarms frequently.
The good news is it looks like temps are going to come up significantly … but it is still winter and the return of frigid temps is always a threat! …. Be warm but be safe!!
