NPD Facebook Post 1.20.15 / Too Bad Tuesday
Hi Everyone,
Happy “Too Bad” Tuesday!!...We picked out some good ones for you today ….so sit back …and enjoy!!
…before we begin I must put out our usual disclaimer:
"All persons in these segments are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and we reserve the right to change the names of those involved (if names are used at all) to protect the innocent" ...
…Ok, Here it is – the TOO BAD TUESDAY – WEEK OF ARRESTS REVIEW:
On 01/10/14, at about 2:34 AM, Officer Baskins….(Yes – THAT Officer Baskins….The Dancing Officer Bakins)…observed a vehicle traveling on Curtiss St. turn onto North Main St….onto the "one way section"…the wrong way…Officer Baskins promptly turned down his music and stopped dancing…and immediately turned on his lights and siren in an attempt to stop the vehicle before it proceeded too far down the road - the wrong way….upon stopping the vehicle, Officer Baskins spoke with the operator and advised him why he had stopped him….it was at this time that Officer Baskins detected "a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath"… (…I just love that term…I often wondered who made this police jargon up…until it hit me in court one day that it was DEFENSE ATTORNEYS!!!....But hey...we still love you guys too!!) …Officer Baskins inquired with the operator where was he coming from and the driver advised he had just left a bar…when asked how much he had to drink the operator responded….(Okay...Lets have some fun here... Please pick from your list of choices):
A) “Nothing – I drank Chocolate Milk …”
B) “7 beers, 10 shots, 3 glasses of wine, 6 martini’s and a cup of coffee with a shot Bailys..”
C) “2 drinks….”
….Did you make your choice?? ….Okay – Who says “A”?.... okay....Whos says “B”?.... …Alright…if you answered “B” …You have not played this game long enough!!... ...it was neither A or B…. That’s right – he went with “the ‘ole two drinks”…Boy – Gotta love the classics!!....
…Based on the smells, and observations (poor driving, glassy eyes, Etc….) Officer Baskins conducted some roadside tests ….The results of those tests translated into an instant reservation at the NPD B&B….The subject was provided with a cinderblock view suite ….and a follow up trip to Beautiful...DOWNTOWN WATERBURY!...Thats right - our contestant will visit the beautiful Waterbury superior court house where he is scheduled to appear on charges of DWI!….Hey...we hear Waterbury is lovely this time of year!...
Okay…This next one is a love story….well, actually it’s a lop-sided love story…’Cause one of the subjects felt absolutely no love for the other….while the other one….well – lets take a look shall we….
…It all started on January 13, 2015 at around 3:47 PM when Officers Kosky and McGarvey were dispatched to a residence on a report of Harassing Phone calls from a former boyfriend….See folks, that term is always problematic….BIG difference between “boyfriend” = present and “former boyfriend” = past….but I don’t want to spoil this, so lets move along…
…Upon arrival of the officers, they spoke with the female victim who advised them that a former boyfriend will not stop contacting her since she broke up with him on Christmas… (..I know…Kinda sad isn’t it…there’s something about the holidays that just gets ya all choked up about these holiday breakups…)... Any-who….the victim further advised that over the past few days she had received numerous text messages from the ‘ole former….181 text messages to be exact…. The officers observed the texts on the victims phone…along with 38 text messages sent back from the victim to the “Former” asking him to stop contacting her...
…Officers Kosky and McGarvey then responded to Ex’s address who advised….he was in love with the victim…. and that he could just not get over her as fast as she had got over him….the Ex further stated he had “texted her many times” trying to tell her how much he loves her….and he admitted that she texted him back (a couple–forty) times to ask him to stop texting… but that he continued anyway….
….Okay dawg…lets talk here a second …One-Hundred-Eighty-One times??… ….1-8-1??? ….look man…that’s ALOT! …. Now, I don’t mean to make light of your feelings …I mean – we’ve all been there …but…when your former breaks it off…and your best plan is to pepper her phone with non-stop text messages ….to the tune of one-hundred-and-eighty-one times…man – what makes you think shes gonna change her mind??? ….and …when you compound that by her asking you almost 40 times to stop... come’on playa’….you gotta have a better game plan than that!!…
…Besides….once someone asks you to stop contacting them …and you continue…you have to stop… because, when you then continue ….you risk edging into a harassment charge….when you continue One-Hundred….And –Eighty-One TIMES….well…that’s a crime….Harrassment in the second degree to be exact …. and Disorderly Conduct….to boot….
…So – unfortunately… Officers Kosky and McGarvey did what they had to do…They played cupids evil twin…and placed the “ex” under arrest...however…they did show some compassion…they opted not place him in the honeymoon suite at the B&B ….were good like that….
On 1/18/2015 at about 2:30 AM Officer Bertola, Officer Moutela and Officer Bastos responded to a residence on a report of a suspicious person…Upon the officers arrival they spoke with the complainant who stated he was in his residence, when he heard someone touching the doorknob to the rear stairwell…The officers walked through the residence to the doorway where they observed a white male, laying underneath a blanket in the stairwell…. the male was known to the officers through previous dealings and he advised the officers that he came to the residence at approximately 9:30 PM to spend time with the complainants girlfriend....The officers spoke with the complainants girlfriend who was also at the home and she advised that
she did not know the man was at the residence….and ….that there was a restraining order placed on the man to stay away from the woman…..
….Officers confirmed that the man had a full “no contact” restraining order in place which barred him from contacting the woman and that he must stay away from where she resides…. The officers arrested the man and charged him with Criminal Violation of a Restraining Order and Trespassing in the Second Degree… He was also not booked to the honeymoon suite ….
Okay…Lets end this with my favorite…a good ol’ Walmart Shoplifting…
…On January 13th, 2015, about 5:00 PM NPD Officer Kehoss was dispatched to Walmartfor a report of a larceny…Upon his arrival at the store he spoke to the Asset Protection Associate (…Store Detective…) …who stated that one of the sales associates from the electronics department told him a customer asked if she could give him a large bag to put his merchandise into ….. (….Red Flag here folks….now, there could be a legitimate reason to ask this …but traditionally… when we put this in a “Too Bad” segment….well, it probably is not going to be “legit”….just sayin!...) …The APA (…Asset Protection Associate….Geeze – keep up!...) went back and tracked where the customer had paid for all the merchandise…the APA stated that he noticed the customer paid for a few items in the electronic department ….and then went to the furniture department where he selected a rug…. and concealed it in a Walmart shopping bag ….(…Whoop…There it is…) ….after that he went to the men's department where he selected a couple more items …. and concealed them in the shopping bags…. and then went back to the electronic department …..and asked the associate for the large bag…. (…Whooa – wait a minute ….don’t go anywhere… he’s not done yet!....) ….and ….after he got the bag…. he continue to the front of the store where he passed all sale points….(…There ….NOW he’s done!) ….
….So…What did the 18 year old shopper-lifter “forget” to pay for?? …several pairs of men's boxers, two shirts, a few pairs of socks….. and ….a throw rug…
…. Again…..We cant make this stuff up…. …as Officer Kehoss report narrative stated ….Nothing further….
…There you have it - this weeks Too Bad Tuesday … Please, have a great Tuesday… and remember – We’re here if you need us!!
