11/25/2014 - NPD Facebook Post - 11/25/14 - TOO BAD TUESDAY
Good Tuesday Everyone,
Ok, its Tuesday which means its “TOO BAD TUESDAY – WEEK IN REVIEW” Time!!! We will cover a quick rundown of some of the past weeks arrests here in the Borough…
Before we begin I must put out our usual disclaimer:
"All persons in these segments are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and that we reserve the right to change the names of those involved (if names are used at all) to protect the innocent" ...
Ok, Here it is – the TOO BAD TUESDAY – WEEK OF ARRESTS REVIEW:
On 11/21/14 Naugatuck PD served an active arrest warrant on Mr. Joseph Thompson of Fairfield for an incident that occurred on 12/13/13 in Bridgeport (….Hold on everyone, you will see why your NPD is involved in a moment!)… Going back to 12/13/13, a house party was held (…I know – Shocker right?....Who holds a house party in December for crying out loud?!!!)… at this party, a person in attendance noticed that their credit card was stolen and reported it to our friends at the Bridgeport PD….and of course to her bank (…all of which are the proper actions in case you were wondering…) Several days later the victim observed that her credit card was used for two transactions at the Naugatuck Cumberland farms for $202.25 each… (…no – they did not purchase a “boat load” of “Chill Zone” drinks and candy bars… more of an ATM withdrawal type scenario… But thanks for wondering!!...) The victim contacted the Naugtauck PD and Detective Slavin investigated further… Det. Slavin was able to speak with some people… who led him to speak with some more people….who led him to speak with the RIGHT people… (you know where this is going…). Det Slavin was then able to locate video of the transaction which confirmed information from the above aforementioned conversations (…I think I just successfully pulled off the use of the word “aforementioned” … I’ve seen them use it in “cop” shows since I was a kid and I FINALLY got to use it in official police business…so – be it it was in a Facebook post for the PD… But still … I used it!!!... okay, back to our arrest….) … all of this work led to Det. Slavin submitting an arrest warrant for Mr. Thompson which of course was signed and served … on the aforementioned date (…is it too much use of “aforementioned” in one story??...).
On 11/22/14 Naugatuck Officers were dispatched on a vandalism complaint on New Haven Road….At Walmart….The officers talked with a Walmart employee who stated his car was parked in the parking lot and when he came out for a break he noticed his car had been vandalized ….apparently “smeared” with pizza onto its windows and stuffed into door handles.. The passenger side contained “a long marking” that stretched nearly the length of the car with the word…. Well, this is a family show, so I cant say what the word was….but I can divulge that it started with a “D” (No – its not “THE” D-Word - “D” either!!) …and it contained eight (8) letters (…. Good luck to all my adult “Wheel of Fortune” fans with this one!!) … The investigation led to a good “looking at” of the phenomenal video captured by Walmarts security cameras …(Seriously – their camera system is second to none!!), which captured the dastardly deed being committed …. This led to an identification of the “food smearing perps”(now to be refered to as “FSP’s”)….Which led to conversations with the same “FSPs”…which led to the arrest of the “FSP’s….The “FSP’s” were charged with Conspiracy at Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree and Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree. The “FSP’s” were identified as Matthew Merritt of Naugatuck and Robert Tesla of Naugatuck.
On November 23rd Naugtatuck PD made an arrest as a result of a dispute at a residence on Highland Ave…During the dispute the female advised that she attempted to talk to her husband but he apparently would not….because he was playing a video game (….This is NEVER a good idea fellas….) … The wife stated she went to the fuse box and turned off the power to the home, in an attempt to get the conversation flowing (…I’m positive this tactic will get the conversation flowing …just don’t think it will be a friendly one…).. Upon turning the power off, a conversation ensued in which the husband threw his wifes cell phone, breaking it and knocked a cup of juice off a table…. Husband was placed under arrest, charged with Disorderly Conduct…Power was reinstated to the home, however the video game was never finished….
On 11/24/14 at about 2:11 AM Naugatuck Police were dispatched to Woodbine Street on a report of a suspicious vehicle parked with its lights on…Officers responded and located the vehicle with a male occupant behind the wheel, slumped over….Officers questioned the subject who appeared disoriented and confused…he also displayed glassy, blood shot eyes and slurred speech…(all signs of a NY Jets fan immediately after a game ….or an impaired person….) …Officers did not observe any NY Jets parphanalia in the vehicle ….so they asked the subject to perform some roadside sobriety tests…of which he failed…The subject was arrested and transported to the NPD B&B, and charged with DUI …BUT WAIT, sadly, this incident does not end here… At about 2:08 PM (Yes – almost exactly twelve hours later) the same subject was involved in a motor vehicle collision on Melbourne Street…where it was discovered that the subject had been driving on suspended license, suspended from the incident that occurred twelve hours prior…. The subject was arrested yet again and transported back to the NPD B&B, where he was booked for another night in the same suite….(you know what they say…If you provide a great service, your customers will return)… Any – who…. The subject was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license …. And was identified as Mr. William Freiheit of Naugatuck…
Now, of course all of these people were arrested … which is always “Too Bad”… but I still have a dream that one week, I will have no material to provide for this segment….
Okay – that’s all we have for you today…Please have a safe and happy Tuesday, and please keep you eyes on out for our weather posts as its supposed to turn nasty over the next day or so….until then, we’ll be here if you need us!!
