It is with a very heavy heart that the Naugatuck PD paid a final salute to Retired NPD K9 “Pete” this afternoon.
Pete served seven years with the NPD (2008-2013) and served his entire
career with NPD handler Det. Kevin Zanic. Pete lived with Det Zanic
since retiring.
Due to illness, Pete was was euthanized this evening after receiving a final salute from his fellow NPD officers.
On behalf of all of us at the NPD we offer our gratitude and
appreciation for a job well done by “Pete” and offer our condolences to
Detective Zanic for his loss.
