11/4/2014 - NPD FACEBOOK POST 11.4.14 - TOO BAD TUESDAY
Good Tuesday Everyone,

Ok – being Tuesday – we’re are all set up and ready to rip with another segment of the “TOO BAD TUESDAY – WEEK IN REVIEW” … I will cover it in a quick rundown of some of the past weeks arrests here in the Borough…

Before beginning though, I of course must put out my weekly disclaimer:
"All persons in these segments are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and that we reserve the right to change the names of those involved (if names are used at all) to protect the innocent" ... (And, again- yes - this disclaimer is a combination of the one used from the show "Cops" and i think the one from "One Adam 12"!!)

…so – Here it is they are – the TOO BAD TUESDAY – WEEK OF ARRESTS REVIEW:

• On Wednesday October 28th Officer Jullian located Mr. Tavares Moss at his residence in Lantern Park … Mr. Moss had an active arrest warrant from this agency for larceny 3rd and for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a suspended license … The warrant stemmed back to an incident that originally occurred in January of this year where Mr. Moss stole an unattended running motor vehicle from the parking lot of Lantern Park (…We keep warning people ….but they keep doing it – PLEASE PEOPLE - LOCK THOSE CARS!!!)…. Interestingly enough, Mr. Moss eventually was discovered to have stolen the car because on the day the car was stolen it snowed…. Investigating officers McAllister and Burns tracked the “fresh footprints”… (Again – we can’t make this stuff up!….truth is stranger than fiction!!….)… leading to where the stolen car had been parked…. and guess where they led to??? …. That’s right, the residence in which Mr. Moss resides… of course a little bit more investigatory work had to be done on this case to show that there was probable cause to suspect Mr. Moss was the car burglar…. But as we can all see - the arrest warrant was signed and served… Oh – the car was located 3 days later in New Haven and was returned to the owner… and the evidence in the snow eventually evaporated around June or July!… Man I hope we get an early spring next year!!....

• On Wednesday October 28th Officer Jullian located Ms. Mitzi Foti at her residence on Andrew Ave.… Ms. Foti had an active arrest warrant from this agency for larceny 6th stemming back to an incident that originally occurred in August of this year - where the NPD received a call from a victim in Crystal lake Iowa reporting that they had been looking for a rental property on a web site (….generally not a bad idea to LOOK on the web…but, keep reading….) and located a home in Iowa with a phone number from Connecticut listed for the “owners”(….insert red flag here…). The victim advised they contacted the number and spoke with a person claiming (key word here was “Claiming”….) to own the home and requested a deposit of several hundred dollars be wired to them (Okay – Ding Ding Ding!!… Red flag should be at full mast here…) …. The victim did so (…Very Bad….) and then began to have second thoughts (…Which was very good…)… The victim contacted a relator in Iowa (….Again – very good Idea….) and the realtor confirmed that she knew of the property and that it was previously rented for significantly more money and was not owned by someone out of state…. The NPD further investigated and tied Foti to the crime through several items including video of the wire transaction at the Naugatuck Walmart…. It is unknown if the victims in Iowa actually rented the home after all….Also unknown if the home was located near a potato field….(sorry – that’s the best I could do as that’s only thing I know about Iowa…)

• On Friday 11/3/14 the Naugatuck PD contacted our friends at the Waterbury PD and asked them to check out a residence to see if they could locate a Mr. David Alvia in their fine city as Mr. Alvia had an outstanding warrant from the Naugatuck PD for Harassment 2nd . The warrant stemmed from an incident reported in September in which Alvia sent several derogatory text messages to a former girl friend…. Now – know that “derogatory” texts went well beyond simple name calling… the coments were concerning enough to the victim that she feared for her safety….and a judge agreed… resulting in the warrant being issued… Our good friends at the Waterbury PD located Mr. Alvia and phoned us back to reserve a room at the NPD Bed & Breakfast…. Mr. Alvia was awarded a complimentary pair of bracelets and a “black and white limo ride” to his destination…. Upon arrival he was booked and charged with a charge of Harassment in the second degree … and shown to one of our finest suites….

• On Tuesday 10/28/14 Officer Field responded to Walmart on a report that the store detectives had a shop lifter in custody (…BTW, shopliftings from Walmart are some of my favorites…)… Upon arriving at the store the store detective explained that he observed Mr. Thomas Gould shopping in the sporting goods section… he observed Gould looking at “BB gun laser sights” and that Gould appeared to be “looking around nervously” (Here comes the red flag again!...) …The store detective watch Gould move to the “tools department” (…Flag is almost a full mast again….) … where he observed Gould “start to open the package while looking around” (Ding Ding Ding – The red flag has made it to the top ….again!!)…Gould was then observed walking to the front of the store, laser sight in hand…. Past all points of purchase (…Police Lingo for “he scooted by the registers!”...) and out the doors …where he was approached by the store detective and detained…. Another nice grab for Walmart!!...Gould was arrested and reservations were made at the NPD B&B ….He was charged with 1 count of Larceny 3rd..

• On Wednesday 10/29/14 at about 3:37 PM – area police departments received a report of an erratic driver in a “silver Lexus” traveling from Wolcott (speaking of Wolcott -Hi Chief Stephens…I know – I Know…Bangor owes you D-Words…. We will be up – Man, he doesn’t let go!!). Officer Baskins located a vehicle that matched the description being operated in Lantern Park and followed it out of the complex where he observed the vehicle being operated erratically. Officer Baskins stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Ms. Patricia Parenti…he also identified her to have “a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from her breath” (….Police lingo again for….”she’s been drinking”)…. Parenti agreed to do some roadside sobriety tests….which she did not do very well…and she was placed under arrest and transported to the NPD B&B for processing…. And charged with operating under the influence and failure to signal when changing lanes….

Okay – that’s all I have for this week – will be back next week with more “Too Bad Tuesday” arrests …until then please be safe and don’t forget – we are only a phone call away if you need us!!
