On March 28, 2018 at approximately 0215 hours, Officer Stephen Fortin
was dispatched to the Polish American Club, located at 199 Bridge Street
to investigate a burglar alarm in the main hall. Upon arrival, Officers
Vitka and Kosky established a perimeter while Officer Fortin located a
male subject inside the fenced-in perimeter of the club. The male was
detained and subsequently identified as:
Joseph Amaral (DOB 4/6/99)
It was determined that Amaral had entered the Polish American Club
through a window causing damage in the process. Furthermore, through
investigative efforts, Officer Fortin located a bag that Amaral had
concealed in the area which contained burglary tools. Amaral was taken
into custody and charged with the following offenses:
§CGS 53a-103, “Burglary 3rd”
§CGS 53a-106, “Possession of Burglar’s Tools”
§CGS 53a-117, “Criminal Mischief 3rd”
§CGS 53a-108, “Criminal Trespass 2nd”
Amaral was held on a $25,000 bond until his appearance at Waterbury Superior Court on 03/28/2018 at 0900 hours.
