At approximately 12:12 PM the Naugatuck Police responded to reports of
gun shots heard in the Longview Terrace area near water company
property. Naugatuck Police received information from a resident that
resides on the water company property line that an individual was
“hunting” and briefly spotted the individual who was “wearing
camouflage”.

PD contacted the school and as a precaution the school was placed in
lockdown.
The area of the Water company property in the area
where this incident occurred is not legal for hunting. Naugatuck Police
thoroughly searched the area with no contact with the described
individual, however based on the search it was determined that that
occupants and students of Maple Hill School were not in danger and as a
result the school was removed from the precautionary lockdown at about
1:15 PM.
Naugatuck Police Officers will remain on scene of the
school for the remainder of the school day and will continue
investigating this incident in the area
